In 1958—in the days before you could find a restaurant on every corner of every street—Frank Jacobs founded a company that would eventually become the largest manufacturer of commercial furniture in the world. It all started with the revolutionary design of the four-prong cast iron table base—the same one our company manufactures and sells to this day. Made from durable cast iron and manufactured to Frank’s exacting standards, our table bases withstand the daily demands of food service. Frank shared his vast knowledge of commercial furniture and table bases with his son, Michael. After manufacturing across five countries and holding significant global sales, Frank sold the company.

Looking to continue the family business, Michael Jacobs established a commercial furniture manufacturing company in 2006 in Shenzhen, China—Jacobs International. With its own export license and a factory in Shenzhen, Jacobs International began to service the growing food service industry throughout the Pacific Rim.

In 2009, Michael and Frank noticed a growing need for quick-turnaround orders for Original Equipment Manufacturers in the United States. They founded JI Bases to service this need, setting up a home office and warehouse in St. Louis, Missouri. JI Bases is managed by people who have been in the industry and with the Jacobs family for more than 30 years.
