All About Table Bases—and then some!

Table Bases are NOT Created Equal

Table bases that aren't made properly stand to ruin your customer's experience.

Let me start by saying that all table bases are not created equal.  JI Bases and the Jacobs family has been making table bases since 1958 and we know a little about the topic.  We also know the industry.

Many tell us that stamped steel top plates are just fine.  And, while yes they are slightly cheaper, they also have some drawbacks.  We know that over time, they can bend or flex.  It's the nature of a "stamped" product.  It's already stretched in the stamping process. It starts out as a flat piece of steel and is then stamped to shape it.  So, structurely it can be deformed or stretched thin. After use and thousands of people pushing up and off their chairs, these top plates begin to bend or flex and you'll find yourself with a wobbly table top.

Center columns made from 18-gauge may seem strong and sturdy, but when you're talking about gauged steel, you have to understand that the smaller the number, the stronger the steel; so, 16-gauge steel is stronger than 18-gauge.  JI Bases uses only 16-gauge steel that is cut square to exacting specifications.  If columns are not cut square on either the top or bottom, they can wiggle, or not "pull tight" into the top or base plate and again, the table top will lean or wobble.

The base plate, the part that sits on the floor may have other issues - the floor may not be level, or the mold that the cast iron was cast from may have discrepancies from one to another.  JI Bases owns the molds used in the foundries and strict standards are used in the factory manufacturing our bases.  The same thickness, the same time in the ovens, the same castings over and over.  That's one reason JI Bases offers a lifetime guarantee on the cast iron bases.

We know what goes in before the JI name goes on.

Do you know what goes under your table top?  If you demand quality workmanship for your tops, shouldn't you expect the same for your bases?  JI Bases are the solid foundation for all your projects.
