Table Design for Offices

Office Furnishing & Design

The two most used furniture features in an office are the desks and tables. Anything we don't do at a desk, we usually do at a table. Tables infer that there are more than one of us sitting there, at least most of the time. However, when we choose the tables for an office we often forget that it doesn't take long before someone is sitting right where the leg of the table is.

Tables With Legs

The legs seem fine, until we all gather around a table. Even when there are only two or three people meeting, it seems that in order to look at one laptop screen or one piece of paper, we crowd close together. That means one or more of us is fighting with the table legs. You know how it goes, you can never quite get comfortable. Change positions to get more comfortable, and there it is again. So, there they are, sitting very still in an uncomfortable position, trying to focus on the purpose of the meeting. How much do you really absorb from the meeting when you can't get comfortable? While it is often enough, it is not usually all of it.

Tables With Pedestals

The support for the table is in the middle, or for long tables spaced evenly down the length still in the middle. There is no leg there for someone to fight with, making anyone in the meeting uncomfortable. That means everyone has the same ability to focus on the matter at hand. While this seems like a small thing when you are choosing the furniture for the office, think about the last time you were the one trying to get comfortable.

Office Furniture Purpose

The office functionality includes the people working together. This is true whether it is the people from inside the office or people who come in for the purpose of doing business. That means clients, joint business venture members, or even investors. Most of the time, the first impression someone gets of your office is from the impression made on them by your furnishings. The office decor and the comfort level of the setting shapes the impression those people will have of your company. The details really count, and if you think about it they count big. The more professional your decor and the more comfortable the setting the better they will think about you after the first meeting. The last thing you want affecting this impression is a fight with a table leg.

Office Decor

Offices tend toward the materials of wood and metal, with the metal being either black or shiny steel. So tables for the office should follow suit. If your desks all match one another, your tables should match your desks. Often you will find that wood top tables with black or stainless steel pedestals go with almost any office, and the results are both functional and professional.

Not only do you want a professional appearance to your decor, but you want it performing flawlessly. We only think about how tables function when they don't. That is the point in time when they develop a wobble, or something rolls away from the person you're meeting with. Our office surfaces have to stay firmly level. This is in part, because the details really count when you are meeting with people coming into your office. The last impression you want is that your office is poorly maintained.

You want strong, elegant, and professional tables with bases that will not lose their shape over time. For more information on how your office can have the high quality tables that will impress your clients and stand the test of time, contact us at Jacobs International Table Bases
