As we begin to lift the multitude of stay-at-home orders and restaurants begin to serve dine-in guests, the rules requiring adequate social distancing will still be in place. How do you make that happen? You make every table an “island”.

In order to maximize your capacity and stay within the new rules, careful planning will produce the proper mix of sizes for your tabletops. Each top requires a perfect foundation. The properly sized table base will be crucial. For example:

• A 36”x36” that opens to a 51” round, can seat from 4 to 7. This top would require a 36” base plate, a 4” column and a 24” cast iron top plate (JI4-36TP24).
• A 60” round would require the same; most stamped steel top plates don’t have multiple sizes to hold these large tops; here at JI we have three sizes of top plates.
• The 30”x48” island would require 2 “end bases” (JI3-522TP12) to make sure it didn’t “tip” by using a single base. These might be your booth or wall-bench tables and seat anywhere from 2 to 6.

To maximize capacity, we’d recommend the 4-prong cast iron pedestal table base. It takes up minimum space and allows for guests’ feet to straddle the base plate and the chairs can be placed right up to the tabletop.
